Pricing & limits
Plan caps for services, databases, Redis, bulk monorepo import, env groups, and persistent environments.
Limits below are enforced in the control plane. Hitting a cap returns HTTP 402 with an upgrade CTA in the dashboard (no silent partial creates on bulk import or environment duplicate).
Resource caps
| Limit | Free | Starter | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Services per workspace | 3 | 10 | 50 |
| Managed databases per workspace | 1 | 10 | 50 |
| Managed databases per project | 1 | 5 | 25 |
| Services selectable in one bulk import | 3 | 10 | 25 |
| Env groups per project | 1 | 5 | 25 |
| Persistent environments per project | 1 (production only) | 3 | 10 |
| Managed Redis per workspace | 1 | 5 | 25 |
| Managed Redis per project | 1 | 3 | 10 |
Bulk import effective max is min(remaining service quota, bulk import max).
Managed Postgres
Postgres is billed as a database quantity. There is no separate storage line. The price includes:
| Plan | Storage | Backup retention | PITR | External connections | Workspace / project caps |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 256 Mi | none | no | 10 | 1 / 1 |
| Starter | 1 Gi | 7 days | no | 25 | 10 / 5 |
| Pro | 4 Gi | 30 days | yes | 100 | 50 / 25 |
Details: Managed databases.
Managed Redis
Redis is Redis (Valkey-compatible). It is billed by RAM, not by command count. Amounts below are USD per month. The dashboard shows the same SKU in your workspace currency.
| Memory | Monthly |
|---|---|
| 32 Mi (Free only) | $0 |
| 256 Mi | $5 |
| 512 Mi | $10 |
| 1 Gi | $20 |
| 2 Gi | $40 |
| 4 Gi | $80 |
| 8 Gi | $160 |
Free is 32 Mi only, persistence off, no snapshots, no high availability. Starter is 256 / 512 / 1024 Mi, with snapshots kept 7 days. Pro is 1 / 2 / 4 / 8 Gi, with snapshots kept 30 days. Pro high availability is a second line equal to the memory price, so that instance’s total doubles. Credits do not reduce the Redis charge.
The billing plan comparison shows the same limits as rows: Redis count, Redis RAM, Redis persistence, Redis snapshots, and Redis HA, plus a live 512 Mi price and the HA add-on.
Details: Managed Redis.
Environments are not a SKU
There is no separate “environment” line item on Stripe/Paystack. Creating a staging (or other) environment duplicates services and optional empty databases; those count toward your existing service and database quotas and continue to meter as:
- Service quantity:
max(1, N billable services)after duplicate - Database quantity: billable managed Postgres count
Free plans cannot add a second persistent environment (402 quota_exceeded). Starter caps at 3; Pro at 10. Preview / PR environments remain ephemeral and do not consume the persistent-environment cap.
What “workspace” means here
Workspace = your Bytstack team / billing boundary (plan, members, GitHub App). It is not a deployment stage. Env keys live on project, env group, or service (the Variables tab). Named stages (testing / staging / production) are deployment environments — see Deployment environments.
Monorepo import
Free plans cannot create a 4th service via checklist or bytstack import --all. Upgrade or deselect rows. Details: Monorepos.
